Short interview with Luke Andrews; what’s happening with YFU?

April 21, 2009

Q:You’re the only team who beats Kinsale this season. What do you think your team had, and the others didnt to beat them?
L.A.:I honestly think the Defensive partnership at the back having World Class Experience, combined with the correct I/Os for the whole team and good tactics decided them. Overall the whole teams experience and spirit shone through

Q:Everyone, including your fans, would be expecting more concistency from your squad; you’re team is the only one who had won against Kinsale and Munster, but on the other side had lost points with Leinster, Hoops or Dynamo. What’s happening with your squad?
L.A.:We have had some bad pieces of luck so far this season, we really deserved to beat Leinster and Dynamo but it just didn’t happen, Hopps got it tactically spot on against us when i took an unnecessary tactical risk. We have tweaked things around tactically and individually so hopefully we’ll go on a run now…

Q:Wendesday night you’re playing the second leg of the CL Final. After an undeserved defeat in Poland, the next match looks like a spectacular encounter. Honestly (and I mean honestly) do you think you can win this trophy?
L.A.:It will be a great game and we’ll be really going for it. I feel the away goal we got will make a difference so i think we will bring the title back to Dublin

Q:After your last result you’re back on the title race. However, if you dont win the championship, what team would you like to win it?
L.A.:Hmmm i think we will win it but if anybody else was to win it i would like it to be Leinster or Hoops. Their managers have done great jobs

Dáire Priest: “We want to break the monopoly in Ireland!”

April 16, 2009

After a looong wait Daire Priest agreed to share with us some of his opinions…
Q: After your great start this season we called you potential title challenger. What happened next? What are your expectation for the rest of the season?
D.P: We had a great start to the league with a victory over YFU in the 1st game, a few results didnt go our way in the lst few weeks but come the end of the season we want to be up there fighting with the rest of them. We finished 4th in our first season as a team and that was fantastic and i dont think people expected that, so we dont want to be one hit wonders. We want to be at fighting to break the monopoly in ireland

Q: Hoops seem to be in great shape right now, It’s looking like you need to prepare something special for this game. Are you going to play different on this match? (planing any surprise?)
D.P: We have been going over there last few games, hoops v pats have always been exciting and i hope this game will be entertaining to the fans and that our fans are the happier going home. I might have a few surprises up my sleeve but thats a secret

Q: “Youth team is a luxury”. Impossible not knowing that Cormac Ireland told this, he said it hundred times. You seem to have a pretty succesfuly one…
D.P: My beleif is that st pats have one of the most promising Youth teams, so many great players and they will be even better in a few seasons time, an era i am very much looking forward to. It is a luxary to have a youth team but we feel we must compete on every level and plan for the future at the same time

Q: Do you think one day one of those players will be able to lift the championship trophy for ST Patricks?
D.P: I think that is very much the case, Its exciting times in richmond park, we are planning on developing the youth team even further, as long as there is still new irish lads becoming avalible ill be doing my best to convince them to become a saint

Q: About this “Dual nationality” thing, we saw that you are for lowering the term. Arent you worried that too many foreigners would mean fewer irish playing at the highest level, causing the weakening of the NT’s?
D.P: I dont think thats the case atall, cormac already said that it would be virtually impossible, but we have to look at expanding ireland as a whole, we have a very active forum, probley the most active in the world. We are constonly getting visitors from abroad posting, i think we can use how active we are to our advantage to attract players and managers to make ireland and even more competitive place to play

Tytus Opas: “We are really bored of winning the championship…”

April 15, 2009

Abusing of his kindness, we finally succeed taking an interview from Tytus Opas, the man who is facing tonight YFU in the CL final.
Right from the start he amazed us with his modesty, an I think you are going to be amazed, too…

Q:Both Progromcy and YFU had a bad start this season but they still managed to reach the final stage of the Champions League. How can you explain this situation?
T.O: We won Ekstraklasa for 6 times. We are really bored of winning so this season we’re going to finish on the lower position.

Q:You’re starting this match as favorites. However, YFU showed that they can produce a lot of surprises. Are you afraid of this game? Will you use your best squad, or you’ll be resting your star players for the league games?
T.O.: I didn’t know that we are favorites. We don’t like to be under the pressure.
We don’t have non-star players so we have to use world class ones.

Q:If you watched their squad, who do you think could be their most dangerous man?
T.O:They’ve got only one forum moderator Danny Gray – we have one more. So it shouldn’t be a problem for us to stop him.
Q:We have informations that a large amount of irish fans will come to your arena tommorrow night. Did your club took any special precautions for stoping the potential problems caused by their hooligans?
T.O:Yes, We’ve hide our stadium deep in the forest. I hope they won’t find it….

Hoopfiend Hooligans are chasing the title

April 13, 2009

Even if they scored the fastest goal this season (Stuart Apple made it 0-1 on the 28th second!), Craggy Island didnt succeed to take any points from this game. The Hoops got back in the game on the 12th minute, when Kian Akinsanya shooted low to the corner. After that, the hosts dominated the game scoring other two goals in the second half by John Tomas and Quentin Rocker

First point for Dynamo

April 13, 2009

The second surprise of the day was the draw between Dynamo and YFU.
Dynamo managed to score early, in the 15th minute, Jack Fisher heading the ball into the net. The decisive moment on the game was certainly in the 31 minute when Conor Scott missed a penalty, putting the ball wide. However, the same Conor Scott scored the equalizer goal in the 67th minute, 1-1 being the final score.
Luke Andrews, the YFU Manager said right after the game : “Should have won this game. We missed a penalty and more that only one sitter. We’ve been written off before which is fine by us.I am confident of beating kinsale next week” Though, after their second game without winnig YFU seems to be in free fall, standing on the 5th place,at 8 points beneath Kinsale.

KInsale goes for glory

April 13, 2009

Kinsale cannot be stopped. That could say the Munster players after the fabulous 5-1. The score shocked both losers and winners.
“I’m stunned.I’m stunned and I’m gutted. I made a couple of mistakes. But even then, there’s no way I could foresee us losing by more than a goal. I coulndt see us losing.”said the Munster manager, completed by Cormac Ireland who said: “I didnt think we’d win by more than 1 or 2 at most if we were going to win, winning by 4 is astounding”.
For Kinsale the scorers were Paul Kennedy, with another Hattrick that confirms his great shape, Josh Gage and Dragos Duduiala, who finally scored his first goal in the league. For Munster the consolation goal weared the signature of Neil Kelly

“The future is bright…”

April 7, 2009

Finally, here’s the interview with Dynamo’s manager, Patrick Man-Low…

Reporter : 4 game, 4 defeats, any chances to survive this season?
PML : We are confident of survival. we have just as much of a chance of survival this season as anyone else.. its so early in the season. We are working well as a team although we have had some bad luck, that will change…. mark my words!!!

Reporter : How hard is to play against all these well established teams ?
PML : Its very difficult to play against these teams, you never know what to expect. Dynamo Dublin are less than two years old, when I took over I was only in the game a few short months so I had to learn on the job as it were and build up the team. When we go into these games we hope to get something from them, sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t, but its all experience.

Reporter : After the hard words between you and McCabe, seems like Munster isnt your favorite team.., but arent you afraid that your players will get affected by this situation?
PML : The players at Dynamo know that we are working through the problems regarding players and formations, although these problems arn’t as big as SOME people would have you believe. I have no problem with the munster team. The players at Dynamo are confident of survival this season, regardless of what others say. And that’s all I wish to say on the matter of Munster and Mccabe.

Reporter : Your club pays the highest average salary in the league and still… bad management or bad luck?
PML : We have one or two players that are on large salaries because they deserve them which will obviously will bring up the average salary. Our finances are just fine though.

Reporter : Ok, current situation isnt an ideal one, what about your youth squad? How do you see the future of Dynamo?
PML : We have a brilliant youth team. Max Dreesens has been doing wonders with the young lads. He has worked very hard with training schedules and sourcing these young lads. Things might not look too good at the moment but the future is bright…..

Massive shock…

April 5, 2009

…last night on The Hitman Arena. It was a balanced first half, with two late goals, Charles Hunt in the 44th for Hoopfiend Hooligans and Conor Scott in the 46th fot YFU.
One minute after the half time, Quentin Rocker produced the surprise on the evening, smacking the ball near the post and putting his team on the lead. After that, 45 minutes didnt seemed enough for YFU to equalize, and their poor performance placed them on 4th place, with only 6 points in 4 games…

All eyes on who?

April 5, 2009

It was a poor performance by St Patricks last night…After an even start, Munster got the lead in 14th minute by Neil Kelly. The Saints tried to push up, Robbie Keane had a good opportunity to score, but on 32nd minute Munster recieved a penalty kick, and Tom Hallam made it 0-2.
Until the half time, Munster were leading by 4, with another 2 goals scored by the same Kelly and Hallam. The second time didnt bring any goals, St Pats not being able to put some real pressure on Kocianova, and Munster figuring the game vs Kinsale already.

Robbie Keane.All eyes on him

April 3, 2009

St Patricks-Munster, the top game of the week. If the hosts are waiting for a miracle on this match, Robbie Keane is definately the man do it.
After the last session of training he agreed to answer to a couple of quick questions.
Q St Pats vs Munster, the most important match of the day, are you nervous playing against your former club?
R. K. I’m not at all nervous going into this match. We have a very strong side and a good team spirit. We’re not going to worry about the opposition, we’re just going to play our own game and hopefully come away with the 3 points.

Q your 4 goals this season helped a lot the team. Do you feel any supplementary pressure on yourself, as all St Patricks’ fans will wait for a great performance of yours tomorrow night?
R.K. Scoring goals has always come naturally. I’ve stuck a few past Kocianova in training many a time. He’s after putting on a bit of weight, he’s just not as agile as he used to be so I’m pretty confident of stroking a few balls into the far corners just out of reach of his chubby fingers.

Q Talking about opponents, who do you think will be Munster’s No1 threat?
R.K. Dylan Hunter is the guy who we’ll have to look out for. The man is a beast, I once saw him eat an RTE Guide in one go. He’s the danger man. I’ll be giving him a wide berth.

Q And their weakest?
R.K. Kocianova has been a great servant to Munster but as I’ve said earlier…. he’s just let himself go of late. A terrible shame really but that’s football…
